Hotel Pasatiempo is just a short walk from Playa Tamarindo, one of Costa Rica's most beautiful Pacific beaches
Hotel Pasatiempo is located at the center of Tamarindo, one of Costa Rica's most forward-looking and ecologically aware beach communities.
Playa Tamarindo, in the province of Guanacaste, is one of the most accessible beaches along the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. There is a paved highway from San Jose for those who wish to rent a car and enjoy the countryside during the 4 to 5-hour drive to Tamarindo.
Tamarindo has two seasons, dry and rainy. The dry season, from November to April is dry, warm and sunny with Papagayo winds from January to March. The rainy season begins in April or May and continues through October. A typical day finds sunny or partly cloudy mornings until late afternoon or evening, when the warm refreshing tropical rain begins. Everything is green and lush during these months. Many of our guests prefer the quieter pace of the green season. Temperatures in Tamarindo range from 80 to 90+ degrees Fahrenheit year round.
Getting there and back
Major airlines fly into San Jose and Liberia. Tamarindo also has an airstrip serviced every day from San Jose and Liberia by two airlines, SANSA, the national airline and Nature Air, a private, scheduled airline.
Daily bus service to and from San Jose, as well as surrounding communities, is available by a variety of transportation companies who will deliver you to our hotel.
The new international airport in Liberia, Guanacaste is now open to international arrivals. Several major Canadian and U.S. airlines fly directly into Liberia. The airport is just a 45-minute drive from Tamarindo. Rental cars are available, or transportation companies can be reserved.
